Paul Franks has underlined his commitment to fight for his place in the Nottinghamshire team having earned selection for the LV= County Championship match against Somerset at Taunton after a spell on the sidelines.
Franks remains in the first team picture at Trent Bridge but has been told that he will not be guaranteed regular LV= County Championship cricket for the remainder of his existing contract which expires at the end of the 2013 season.
"I'm a Nottinghamshire man and I want to stay at the Club even if it means having to fight for my place," said Franks.
"We have assembled a strong bowling unit here and we all want to play regularly but have to accept that Mick will pick the best possible team on any given day.
"I have been given permission to speak to other counties but my preference is to get my head down and find the form that would merit a place in the team and that is what I intend to do."
Franks, 33, made his first class debut for Nottinghamshire in 1996 and played a key role in the Championship triumphs of 2005 and 2010.
