Andre Adams, Nottinghamshire's leading wicket taker, will miss the LV= County Championship match against Durham.
Harry Gurney is also a major injury doubt with international commitments also ruling out Samit Patel, James Taylor, Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad.
Unless Gurney can prove his fitness, Luke Fletcher, Andy Carter and Ben Phillips will ead the pace attack with all-rounders Paul Franks and Graeme White batting at seven and eight.
"Durham have enjoyed an upturn in form and won their last two matches and we need to take advantage of Warwickshire having a week off by winning enough points to apply some pressure," said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
"Missing Samit means that we have to make some changes to balance the team with five batsmen and five bowlers rather than our preferred six and four."
