Karl Turner and Sam Kelsall will open the batting for Nottinghamshire against Durham in Tuesday's LV= County Championship match at The Emirates ICG.
Turner missed out on a call-up for the victory over Lancashire but has been preferred to Neil Edwards who has struggled for form since his return from injury.
"Karl was considered for the Lancashire match but now he has an opportunity which he'll be keen to take given his history with Durham," said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
"Neil hasn't contributed enough at the top of the order and he knows that he has to score a high volume of runs in the Second Eleven and find some confidence.
"We've monitored Sam Kelsall for a long time and we feel that he will be most effective in four-day cricket and he would have played before now had it not been for his inclusion in the England Under 19s squad."
Paul Franks is available for selection again after illness and Newell may elect to include him in addition to Graeme White who has been solid in the previous two matches. Notts are without Alex Hales and Samit Patel who are on England Lions duty.
"On paper, Durham have a much stronger side but we have a lot of bowling options and we know that we can challenge their top order," said Newell.
"The balance of the team will have to change given the players that are missing and we'll have a look at the conditions before we finalise our side."
