Wicket-keeper Chris Read has been ruled out of this evening’s Friends Provident t20 match against Derbyshire Falcons at The County Ground this evening with a calf strain.
Read sustained the injury in last night’s defeat to Warwickshire Bears and will be replaced by Bilal Shafayat in a team that is otherwise unchanged.
“It’s not a serious injury but it could keep him out of the next two games,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“Bilal hasn’t played a great deal of Twenty20 cricket but he’ll bat in the lower-middle order and it’s an opportunity for him to demonstrate his wicket-keeping ability.”
Notts cruised to victory over Derbyshire at Trent Bridge on Friday evening but will expect a sterner test this evening with South African Test bowler Charl Langeveldt in the Falcons line-up.
“Derbyshire are a stronger side with Langeveldt included and we’re mindful of that. We’ve made an excellent start to the competition and it’s important that we put the Warwickshire defeat out of our minds and return to winning ways.”
Australian internationals David Hussey and Dirk Nannes will both feature for Notts. Play starts at 7pm.
