Darren Pattinson will make the first stage of his recovery from an ankle injury when he plays for Notts Second XI in their Trophy match against Leicestershire today.
The Aussie seamer has been ruled out since the problem emerged during the LV County Championship game against Worcestershire in April but will be definitely feature at Nottingham High School - although not in a bowling capacity.
Pattinson will instead feature solely as a batsman and in the field and Assistant Manager Wayne Noon said: “We don’t want to rush him back.
“It’s important that we take his recovery in stages and this will be an important test for him. He’ll bat at eight and get a run-around in the field, and we’ll see how his ankle responds to that over the week.”
Matt Wood also continues his recovery from his own ankle ligament injury sustained in pre-season, and will open the batting with Bilal Shafayat.
Team to face Leicestershire:
Bilal Shafayat, Matt Wood, Greg Wood, Liam Andrews, Scott Elstone, Kevon Cooper, Ben McGuire, Darren Pattinson, Mark Footitt, Charlie Shreck, Andrew Carter.
