Trinidadian Jason Mohammed hit a match-winning 142 to earn victory for Notts Academy in his second Bassetlaw League appearance.
in only his second innings for the Academy was the star of the game with a magnificent 142 against Thoresby Colliery at the Notts Sports Club on Saturday.
Coming in at first wicket down following Sam Woods dismissal for 8, the former West Indies ‘A’ captain reached his 50 from 57 balls. Sam Kelsall was out caught behind one of Ben Marson's three victims for 31 and when Ben McGiure was out for 10 the Academy were 98-3.
Adam shepherd joined Mohammed to add 170 for the 4th wicket in 23 overs. Jason reached his 100 in 96 balls was out in the 46th over having hit two sixes 17 fours a seven batting for 146 minutes.
Adam Shepherd supported him well reaching his 50 from 46 balls and was still there at the close of the innings undefeated for 81 as Notts reached 294-4
Shepherd took the first two wickets when the visitors started their reply but Ben McGuire was the star turn with the ball taking 4-34 and Dominic Harvey recovered marked his return with 2-24.
Thoresby recovered from 81-6 mainly through Monsour Khan who stayed to the end for 34 not out as they were all out for 169 from 40 overs to give the Academy victory by 125 runs, Adam Shepherd claiming the last wicket to finish with 3-38.
