Notts all-rounder Samit Patel has been named sports personality of the year award at the British Asian Sports Awards.
The award was presented by Michael Vaughan in a lavish London ceremony and collected in Samit’s absence by his father, Ron Patel.
Currently touring New Zealand with England Lions, Patel beat Owais Shah and Ravi Bopara to the award.
