Charlie Shreck will step up his return from knee surgery today when he lines up for Nottinghamshire’s Second XI in their Championship match against MCC Young Cricketers.
The 6ft 7ins seamer went under the knife in February and Assistant Manager Wayne Noon claims the match is an important stage in his recovery.
Said Noon: “Charlie has been eased back into training following the surgery but it’s time for him to start bowling in match conditions.
“We will manage his workload carefully through the game but he does need a good test. The aim is to try and get him ready for the first team’s Championship match with Somerset next week.”
Off-spinner Jason Brown will also be expecting to bowl plenty of overs to prepare for a first team call-up, with Graeme Swann likely to be named in England’s Test squad for the start of the series with the West Indies.
Noon’s 12-man squad will all take part in the match.
Squad:
Jefferson, Akhil Patel, Greg Wood (wkt), Kevon Cooper, Ben McGuire, Sam Kelsall, Liam Andrews, Scott Elstone, Adam Shepherd, Jason Brown, Mark Footitt, Charlie Shreck.
