An opening stand of 80 between Will Jefferson and Akhil Patel couldn’t prevent Nottinghamshire’s Second Eleven from falling to a Trophy defeat to MCC Young Cricketers.
Jefferson hit 9 fours and a six on his way to 60 whilst Patel scored 30 but Notts were unable to reach the 238 run target set by MCCYC, being bowled out 39 runs short with 3 overs remaining
The only other innings worthy of note were a patient 37 from Liam Andrews, who was run out, and 24 from Kevon Cooper . The MCCYC spin attack of Beaven and Thompson kept tight control during their ten-over spells.
Jason Brown captained the side and returned Nottinghamshire’s most economical spell with 2-24 from his ten overs.
Ben McGuire took 2-45 and Mark Footitt 1-35.but the home team scored 237 with skipper Richardson making 51 before being smartly run out by a direct hit from Scott Elstone.
