Stuart Broad has won his battle to be fit for England’s first One Day Interntaional against India in Rajkot on Friday.
Broad will be joined in the side by Notts team mate Samit Patel but Graeme Swann misses out whilst Ryan Sidebottom is ruled out through injury.
Captain Kevin Pietersen said that Broad’s return was a welcome boost for England and that local conditions had informed the decision to name Patel as the sole spinner.
“He (Stuart Broad) was running pretty fast on a treadmill next to me yesterday so he’s all good and he’s going to be an important player for us for the next six weeks,” he said.
“We’ve looked at the last games that have been played here and looked at the conditions as well. Past history says there’s quote a few runs on this wicket so hopefully it will be a good entertaining game of cricket tomorrow.”
Ravi Bopara has been preferred to Luke Wright and the omission of Swann hands a place to Jimmy Anderson.
