Notts second XI coach Wayne Noon has backed Will Jefferson and Matt Wood to bounce back following their omission from the Outlaws squad to face Leicestershire.
The pair will open the batting for the Second XI against Gloucestershire at Notts Sports Club from Wednesday.
“All eyes will be on Will and Matt and it’s in everyone’s best interests that they hit big scores for the second eleven and the sooner they are able to do that the better,” said Noon.
“In an ideal world they will both hit hundreds and play their way into contention again but they have to knuckle down and build big scores.”
Noon can also call on Bulwell-born fast bowler Luke Fletcher who has benefited from an extended run in the Outlaws squad while Gareth Clough and AJ Harris are both now fully fit and finding match sharpness.
Notts second XI to face Gloucestershire: Will Jefferson, Matt Wood, Matt Robins, Scott Elston, Rob Cook, Sam Ogrizovic, Luke Fletcher, Gareth Clough, AJ Harris, Ian Saxelby, Andy Carter
