Notts youngster Ben McGuire hopes to stake a claim for inclusion in the Second XI after scoring a double century for Kidsgrove in the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire Premier League.
McGuire’s innings dwarfed his previous best of 108 and caught the attention of Notts Academy Director Chris Tolley.
The 16 year old all-rounder regularly attends training sessions at Trent Bridge and hopes to continue to progress through the ranks.
“I started off slowly but I hit a short ball for six and built the innings from there,” said McGuire.
“Anything that sat up I tried to pull and quite a few went for six.
“I had concentrated on my bowling until last year when my batting really started to develop and it’s pleasing to have had such a good score.”
