Mick Newell will choose between seam bowlers Darren Pattinson and Charlie Shreck when he picks his team for this evening’s Twenty20 Cup game against Derbyshire Phantoms at the County Ground (play commences 7:00pm).
Adam Voges replaced Andre Adams in a new-look opening partnership in yesterday’s win over Leicestershire Foxes and Newell could keep faith with the re-ordered batting line-up.
“I think we got the batting order just about right against Leicestershire and the thinking behind the changes was to give our best batsmen more time in the middle,” said Newell.
“It didn’t work out last night for Samit and Adam but Chris Cairns played a calm and assured innings with good contributions from Bilal, Will and Chris.
“Derbyshire will be difficult to beat but we’re top of the group and we need to keep taking points to stay there.
“I’ll make a late call between Charlie and Darren because we don’t need to play both of them at the same time although they both have a part to play for us in the competition.”
The Outlaws have two more home fixtures and trips to Grace Road and Old Trafford to negotiate as they look to secure progression to the quarter-final stage.
Lancashire Lightning visit Trent Bridge on Sunday (2:30pm) and Yorkshire Carnegie are in town next Friday (5.30pm).
