Chris Cairns will be included in the Notts Outlaws team to face Yorkshire Carnegie this evening after his registration was approved by the ECB.
The New Zealand international turned 38 today and hopes to celebrate his birthday with a win at Headingley.
“I was always preparing as if I would be playing in the opening game and although I didn’t expect any problems it is pleasing that the formalities have been completed,” said Cairns.
“I’ve done well in practice but I’m reticent to make any bold statements because playing in these games is a different proposition altogether.
“There have been a lot of changes to the Notts Outlaws side and there is a healthy mix of young and experienced players and we’re hopeful that we can do well in the competition.”
Cairns will make a welcome return to Trent Bridge when Notts face Durham Dynamos on Saturday.
BBC Radio Nottingham will broadcast full match commentary on all Notts Outlaws Twenty20 games on 95.5FM and online at www.bbc.co.uk/nottingham
