Bilal Shafayat has been recalled to the Notts side to face Worcestershire at New Road tomorrow in the opening fixture of the Natwest Pro40 competition.
Will Jefferson makes way for Shafayat’s inclusion with Graeme Swann set to open alongside Matt Wood in a deep Outlaws batting line-up.
“I felt that Will needed a break after our Championship fixture and it gives Bilal a chance to make a claim for further inclusion,” said Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“Our record over the past couple of years has been good and if our fielding is sharp, we know that we can produce solid batting and bowling performances. We want to win the competition and we’ve got the players to do it.
“It can be difficult to make the transition when you go straight into a one day game from a Championship match but having missed out in the Friends Provident Trophy, this may be our best chance to win a competition.”
Adam Voges and Samit Patel are also included with Darren Pattinson, Charlie Shreck and Andre Adams spear-heading the bowling attack.
Worcestershire Royals are the defending Natwest Pro40 Division One champions having lost just one of their fixtures last season.
Live coverage begins on Sky Sports 1 at 4.30pm.
