Middlesex batsman Daniel Housego hit 92 to condemn Notts 2nd XI to a 52 run defeat in the Second XI trophy on Tuesday.
Clifton all-rounder Liam Andrews enjoyed instant success with the ball, taking a wicket with his first delivery to finish with 3-26 from six overs.
Matt Lineker top-scored with 45 in his first appearance for the Second XI. The trialist has been a consistent run-scorer for Ockbrook this season and will be included in Wayne Noon’s squad for the Second Eleven Championship game against Worcestershire at Notts Sports Club next week.
On Wednesday, Bilal Shafayat built on his match winning innings for the Outlaws against Worcestershire Royals with a confident Second XI century against Minor Counties.
Shafayat hit ten fours on his way to 124 alongside Martin Dobson who scored 108.
“Martin has been threatening to reach a big score for a while and he came through alongside Billy,” said Second XI Manager Wayne Noon.
“In many ways it was the perfect partnership and it was pleasing to see Billy build on his man of the match performance in the Pro40 with a big score for the Second XI.”
Rob Ferley’s 69 went in vein as Northants batsman Riki Wessels hit 122 to complete a comfortable run chase in the final round of group fixtures in the Second XI Trophy on Thursday.
Luke Fletcher (40) and Scott Elstone (43) helped Notts to 265-7 after 50 overs but the home side reached 269-3 with 14 overs to spare.
“We were in trouble at 100-5 but Luke and Rob added runs and Scott Elstone’s run-a-ball 40 showed that he is starting to settle into the side,” said Noon.
“The Northamptonshire batsmen were very aggressive and Luke Fletcher and Andy Carter will benefit from the experience of facing them.”
