Bilal Shafayat enjoyed a season’s best LV County Championship score of 62 as Notts ended day two with a commanding lead over Yorkshire.
The opener hit 8 fours in a 103 run partnership with Mark Wagh after Matt Wood fell lbw to Matthew Hoggard for 14.
Having resumed on 72-5, Charlie Shreck’s five wicket haul saw Yorkshire all out for 161, Bresnan (32) and Kruis (17) pushing the visitors from 115-9.
“There was a bit of spring in the ground and the ball moved a bit and I just tried to bowl a fuller length,” said Shreck.
“All of the fast bowlers have performed well in the game and we’ve got one of the best spinners in the country in Graeme Swann.
“Bilal has played very well and got us off to a good start in the second innings. We’d like more runs on the board but we’re looking alright.”
Shafayat lost his wicket in unfortunate circumstances, smashing it back at Hoggard who deflected it high off his right hand into the path of Rana Naved.
Notts closed on 146-2, 198 runs ahead.
