Mark Ealham recorded his best ever Notts figures to secure a return to the top of the LV County Championship.
Adam Lyth made Notts sweat with a measured knock of 132 to take Yorkshire from 75-4 to 283-7 but after Andre Adams had him lbw, Ealham dismissed Bresnan, Kruis and Hoggard in quick succession to secure victory by 112 runs.
“Mark’s the type of bowler to weigh up a pitch and adjust his style to the conditions and he realised that he needed to bowl straight and look for the stumps or lbw,” said Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“You’re always a bit edgy as time runs away but we knew we could finish the job if we got into the tail and Mark played superbly.
“The Lyth wicket ended their chance of winning the game and the Rashid wicket ended their chance of drawing and it’s a very satisfying result..”
Second innings contributions from Shafayat (62), Wagh (60), Patel (60) and Swann (57) built the foundations for the win and Ealham’s second innings haul of 7-59, his best for 12 years, condemned Yorkshire to their third successive Championship defeat.
