Stuart Broad and Darren Pattinson will face-off against Steve Harmison and Liam Plunkett when Nottinghamshire host Durham at Trent Bridge from Wednesday.
Broad and Harmison have been left out of the England side and will travel to Nottingham for the LV County Championship fixture, joining the action after lunch.
Andre Adams will deputise for Broad who must act as England cover until play begins at Edgbaston.
“Stuart will definitely play for us provided England don’t suffer any injuries and we’ve nominated Andre as cover until he arrives,” said Newell, who will also have Darren Pattinson at his disposal.
“Stuart’s future in the England team is beyond doubt and it won’t do him any harm to have some time with us.
“He has become a big player for England but they have chosen to include who they consider to be their four best bowlers at this moment in time.
“It will make for an interesting domestic fixture with some quality bowlers on show.”
Paul Franks misses out to accommodate Pattinson’s return but Charlie Shreck and Mark Ealham keep their places after registering strong performances in last week’s win over Yorkshire.
Durham lie third in LV County Championship Division One, ten points behind first-placed Nottinghamshire with a game in hand.
Nottinghamshire team to face Durham: Matt Wood, Bilal Shafayat, Mark Wagh, Adam Voges, Samit Patel, Chris Read (capt / wkt), Graeme Swann, Mark Ealham, Stuart Broad (Andre Adams), Darren Pattinson, Charlie Shreck
