Alex Hales pushed his claim for a first team spot with a fine knock of 129 before rain ended the Second XI Championship fixture against Derbyshire.
Forties from academy members Sam Wood and Sam Kelsall helped Notts to a commanding lead before a series of rain delays saw the match abandoned on the afternoon of day three.
“We played very well and it’s a big disappointment that the rain has prevented us from winning the game,” said Notts Coach Wayne Noon.
“Alex is putting pressure on the first team batsmen and we’ve seen some good performances from the academy players.
“Having the leadership of Paul Franks and AJ Harris in the team was a big plus point for us and Mark Footitt and Luke Fletcher bowled very well.”
