Overseas signing Ashwell Prince hopes that his runs can fire Notts to victory in two competitions
The South African batsman will make his debut in Tuesday’s NatWest Pro40 floodlit game against Durham Dynamos at Trent Bridge (play starts 4.10pm) and is keen to carry his international form into the final weeks of the domestic season.
Left out of South Africa's one day squad, Prince's Test pedigree should also serve Notts well in the LV County Championship.
“Trent Bridge is an impressive venue and my team mates were disappointed that we didn’t have an opportunity to play against England in a test match here,” said Prince, who played cricket in England for Morecambe in 1999 and 2000.
“I have never played here before but most of my domestic cricket in South Africa is played under lights so I won’t need too much time to adjust.
“Mick Newell has mentioned his plans to me and I’ll be used in the middle order in and hopefully I can do a good job for Notts.”
Prince’s 149 against England at Headingley was one of the highlights of the series and with nine test hundreds to his name, he has the pedigree to make a positive impact.
“I was pleased with my performances in the first two tests but I would have liked to have finished the series better. Hopefully I can transfer my form into my performances for Notts,” he said.
“Professionals play cricket to win trophies and to be in contention on two fronts is great. I hope that I can help the team to win some silverware.”
