Samit Patel and Darren Pattinson were central figures as England Lions recorded a six wicket win over South Africa at The County Ground.
Patel hit 7 fours and a six on his way to 60 not out and Pattinson took the prized wicket of Herschelle Gibbs.
The tourists reached 209-5 from fifty overs, a total surpassed by the Lions with eight overs to spare.
Patel also produced an economical bowling display, conceding just nine runs from his four overs, and will learn tomorrow whether he has been included in the England One Day side to face Scotland at The Grange.
Ryan Sidebottom has been ruled out of the fixture with a hip injury.
