Ashwell Prince will become the 600th player to play first class cricket for Nottinghamshire when Mick Newell’s side face Sussex at Hove tomorrow.
Prince could be joined in the starting line-up by Alex Hales who has been included in a 13-man squad for the game.
Darren Pattinson and Charlie Shreck are expected to spearhead the bowling attack with Paul Franks, Mark Ealham and Andre Adams also vying for a place.
“Sussex have a few injury problems but they’ll be looking at us knowing that we’ve lost a few players to the England squad,” said Newell.
“We need to make a decision on the balance of the team but if we go with six batsmen then Alex will be included.
“He has developed nicely this season and he has hit big scores for the Second Eleven which has helped him to make a case for a place.”
Mark Wagh has recovered from the shoulder injury that cut short his innings in last week’s NatWest Pro40 game against Durham.
Nottinghamshire squad to face Sussex: Will Jefferson, Bilal Shafayat, Matt Wood, Mark Wagh, Ashwell Prince, Alex Hales, Chris Read (capt / wkt), Paul Franks, Mark Ealham, Andre Adams, Charlie Shreck, Darren Pattinson, Rob Ferley
