Mick Newell hopes to extend his side’s winning start to the season when Nottinghamshire face Yorkshire at Headingley in the LV County Championship from Wednesday.
The two sides top the table after recording convincing wins in their opening fixtures and with Ryan Sidebottom and Stuart Broad gunning for Yorkshire batsman and England captain Michael Vaughan, the game has been given an extra spice.
Yorkshire beat Hampshire by an innings while Nottinghamshire overcame Kent to establish their championship credentials.
“Yorkshire are very strong at the moment with the involvement of Vaughan, Hoggard and Gough and two very good sides will be meeting,” said Newell,
“They have won their only game and we have won our only game so both teams will feel confident.
“We have played some good cricket so far and I’m happy with the depth of talent that we have in the squad and we’re going to call on all of it in the next six months.”
The availability of Sidebottom and Broad means that Darren Pattinson, the Notts bowler who took eight wickets on his LV County Championship debut, misses out on a starting place although he will travel to Headingley with the squad.
Will Jefferson and Matt Wood will open the batting for Nottinghamshire.
