Nottinghamshire have announced that Second XI batsman Josh Mierkalns has been released.
The 21-year-old was on a short-term contract at Trent Bridge which ran out at the end of June and Assistant Manager Wayne Noon said: “Things haven’t worked out and Josh has not kicked on as we would have liked.
“He has not produced the performances we were looking for this summer, but goes with our best wishes for the future.”
The middle order batsman spent two years with the Notts Academy before joining the staff on a summer contract.
He made his debut for the Second XI at the age of 16, with his senior bow for Notts coming last season.
Mierkalns played twice in the Twenty20 Cup, once in the NatWest Pro-40 League and also made one first-class appearance against West Indies A.
