Nottinghamshire physio Craig Smith has decided to leave the club at the end of the season.

The South African has spent six years at Trent Bridge and is held in high regard by the Nottinghamshire management.

“All good things come to an end but I’m looking forward to new doors opening as this one closes,” said Craig.

“I’ve been in cricket dressing rooms for 19 years working long hours and going on long tours but it’s something that I’ve really enjoyed.

“My immediate plan is to do everything I can to support the team by keeping the players fit for a big push towards the end of the season.”

Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell praised Craig’s contribution to the club.

“Craig has been an outstanding physio for us and he is highly thought of by all of the players here,” said Newell.

“He has always given us an accurate diagnosis and has a consistent ability to get players back into action.”
