Notts Academy claimed yet another victory in the Bassetlaw League when they thrashed Retford by eight wickets.

After winning the toss and asking the visitors to bat, Retford were limited to 173-7, with a stubborn 63 not out from Pascal Broadley, who held the innings together in batting for 41 overs.

His efforts denied the Academy maximum bowling points, with Jake Ball picking up 3-36 and Akhil Patel 2-22.

Chasing a target of 174, Patel and Sam Kelsall put on a rapid 67 for the opening partnership before Kelsall holed out at backward square leg for 30.

The score progressed to 121 before Patel fell in identical fashion, after hitting 11 fours on his way to 59 from 65 balls.

Sam Wood maintained the momentum with a polished 58 not out from 47 balls, including nine fours, and Jason Mohammed had reached 15 when the winning runs were hit, with 24 overs remaining.
