Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel has been included in England's provisional 30-man squad for June's ICC World Twenty20.

Patel has forced his way back into the selctors thoughts after a positive reaction to his ommission from the one day squad amid fitness concerns and is joined by Notts team mates Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad.

Andrew Strauss has been ommitted from the squad, paving the way for England to name a new captain for the duration of the tournament.

"Samit has gone part of the way to addressing the concerns and he continues to work towards proving that he has addressed all of the concerns over his fitness," said National Selector Geoff Miller.

"The selectors have decided against naming a captain for the ICC World Twenty20 at this stage because we feel it is important to comprehensively review the recent tour of the Caribbean and seek input from all relevant parties including the incoming England team director who is yet to be appointed."

England face Scotland in a warm-up fixture at Trent Bridge on Tuesday 2nd June and will face South Africa in a super eight clash on Thursday 11 June if both teams qualify from their groups.

Tickets for all tournament fixtures at Trent Bridge are on sale now from www.icc-cricket.com and the tournament ticket hotline 08448472020.
