Leics v Notts: Day One Round-Up

Samit Patel took two wickets as Leicestershire scored 356-6 on day one at Grace Road.

Notts will bat throughout Monday with Akhil Patel and Sam Kelsall amongst the young players keen to impress Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“It was a very useful day and we took the chance to look at a number of young players and Nixon and Allenby took advantage of that later in the day and scored runs at a faster rate than they would usually expect,” said Newell.

“It’s a good pitch and we’ll be looking for Alex Hales to take his opportunity in the opening pair tomorrow.”

Mark Footitt and Andre Adams also took wickets.

Will Jefferson is expected to be limited to light training for a week as he recovers from a minor knee problem.
