Mick Newell will target valuable bonus points after the second day’s play at The Riverside was abandoned due to heavy rain.

Notts and Durham are yet to being their LV County Championship clash and with further rain expected, the remaining two days could provide equal frustration.

“It is beginning to look like bonus points will be all there is to play for if we manage to get started tomorrow but the previous fixture at The Riverside almost finished in two days so we won’t give up hope of getting a result just yet,” said Newell.

“There is a lot of water on the outfield and the forecast for Thursday isn’t great so it’s all in the balance.”
