The visitors resumed day two on 7/4, before making 97 in their first innings to concede a deficit of 410.
Notts lost Ben Martindale and Dane Schadendorf early in their second innings, but opener Loten anchored his side’s efforts with an undefeated 86 from 196 balls.
Freddie McCann contributed a useful 26, before Sammy King compiled his own half-century from 96 deliveries.
King and Loten’s stand had passed 150 by the time play concluded, with Notts 203/3.
