Peter Moores says self-belief will be key to turning Notts Outlaws’ fortunes around in the Vitality Blast as Lancashire head to Trent Bridge on Sunday 9 June (2.30pm start).
A 15-man squad has been named for the fixture, with Freddie McCann added to the party which travelled to Derby on Friday.
“We have to come in and treat this game like a final,” said Moores.
“We’re not out of the tournament, but we’ve got to play better. We’ve got to turn it around fast, and players have to believe in themselves and each other.
“We’ve had some great scraps with Lancashire over the years, so we look forward to it, and I said to the lads they’ve got to come in with a spring in their step ready to play.”
McCann is one of eight players in the Outlaws’ squad for the fixture who hadn’t pulled on a Notts T20 jersey prior to this summer, with several players making their Vitality Blast debuts for the county in the opening four fixtures of the competition.
“There are some good players in that team who’ve done a lot of good things for this club, so you look to those senior men first to show what they’ve got,” said Moores.
“But it’s a different team compared to last year. The younger lads and new players have that chance to give it everything they’ve got and show they’re ready to play.
“Everybody’s got a role to play. We’ve got to be better as a group, and be really competitive in everything we do.”
Sunday sees the Outlaws return home for their third T20 of the summer at Trent Bridge, and Moores admits his side is motivated by the opportunity to right some wrongs in front of the Outlaws faithful.
“I always feel for the supporters when we don’t play as well as we should,” he said.
“They’ve seen us play a lot of good cricket over the years, and we’ll work hard to get ourselves ready for Sunday, so that we can perform better and start to get some momentum in this tournament.”
