Trent Bridge will join the cricket community in supporting the Rainbow Laces campaign this weekend, with a host of activities planned as The Blaze and Notts Outlaws take to the field between 5 and 7 July.

The Rainbow Laces campaign, running since 2014, delivers a powerful message that cricket welcomes everyone, and aims to ensure that those in the LGBTQ+ community feel they can be their true selves whilst attending or participating in all sporting events.

The Blaze will kick proceedings off by wearing rainbow laces for their match against Southern Vipers at Chesterfield on Friday 5 July, whilst a rainbow of colour will be injected into Trent Bridge for the Outlaws' fixture against Birmingham Bears on Sunday 7 July.

The Outlaws players will don a range of rainbow-themed apparel on Sunday – from rainbow laces to armbands and t-shirts – in solidarity with the campaign. In addition, expect rainbow flags and decorations, rainbow face-painting and a host of other Pride- themed touches.

Members of the OUTlaws, an LGBTQ+ and allies supporters' group, will also be in attendance, while supporters are invited to show their support by wearing rainbow-themed clothing or accessories when attending the fixture.

"We want to ensure that everybody who steps through the gates of our venue, or engages with cricket at any level across the county, feels included and safe," said Nottinghamshire's Deputy Head of Community & Development Ian Dipaolo.

"We know that, as a high-profile sports venue, we have a major part to play in ensuring that our visitors feel welcomed, and that our players can be important advocates too.

"It's a great shame that, in 2024, large parts of the LGBTQ+ community still can't be their true selves when attending or participating in sport - especially considering the way that sport has the power to bring people together.

"Cricket truly can be a game for all, and by showing our support for causes such as Rainbow Laces, we can demonstrate this with our actions as well as our words."
