Bowling all-rounder Rob Lord has signed a contract with Nottinghamshire until the end of the 2024 season.

The 23-year-old’s deal follows commendable performances for the Outlaws' Second XI, including in the Second Eleven T20 North Group.

His contributions in that competition include 1-18 from four overs and the game’s top-score of 39 in a 19-run win against Leicestershire, while he took 3-25 in a 50-over friendly against the South Asian Cricket Academy and has also secured scalps in the Second XI Championship.

He is available for Nottinghamshire with immediate effect.

“As a coaching team, we’ve been impressed with Rob’s performances on the pitch and his potential is clear,” Peter Moores said.

“He's done well to take opportunities presented to him so far and by having him around the professional squad until the end of the season, we hope he'll be able to show he’s got what it takes to be successful at this level.”

“As a player he bowls with good pace and aggression and wants to be dominant with the bat. We're certainly looking forward to working with Rob to refine his game in the coming months.”

Lord plays his club cricket for Bowdon, where he has taken over 100 wickets across the past three seasons.

He has recently represented Cheshire in Minor Counties cricket following a spell in Lancashire’s pathway.

“I feel like I’ve put the hard work in to get to this position, and I’m grateful to have been rewarded,” Lord said.

“It is nice to have the opportunity to be around the group for a longer period and show what I can do.

“Being reasonably tall and having the ability to bowl quick is what I try to use to my advantage, and hopefully I can take wickets and contribute to wins.

“I’ve already learned a lot pretty quickly in the time that I’ve been here, and hopefully I can continue to do so in the coming months.”
