Since signing from Lancashire ahead of the 2010 campaign, Mullaney has racked up an impressive collection of awards, playing a decisive role in multiple successes.

The all-rounder’s personal trophy cabinet includes the 2013 Yorkshire Bank 40 title, both white-ball trophies in 2017 and the 2020 Vitality Blast.

In 2022, he led the Green and Golds to the Division Two title.

“It’s a huge honour to be awarded a testimonial year, particularly given the players that have gone before me,” Mullaney said.

“I could scarcely have imagined the career I’ve had here when Mick first approached me in 2010, but it has been the greatest pleasure and privilege to represent the club.

“I have been filled with pride every time I’ve worn the Nottinghamshire shirt and I’ve given my all throughout the time.

“I’m looking forward to what will be a fantastic year of events, and raising money for causes particularly close to my heart.”

In total, Mullaney has scored 13,460 runs, and taken 1,093 wickets in 455 all-format appearances for Nottinghamshire.

Having played 177 games, only Paul Franks, Samit Patel and Chris Read have appeared in more First Class fixtures for the club since the turn of the century.

Having assumed the captaincy role with the Green and Golds in 2018, he went on to take up the same job for England Lions, and in the North vs South season-opening series, the same year.

“Steven has been an outstanding contributor to Nottinghamshire cricket on and off the pitch for well over a decade,” Mick Newell said.

“His statistics speak for themselves with regards to his performances, and he has been a brilliant ambassador for the club in the way he has carried himself prior to, and since, taking the reins as captain.

“He is hugely deserving of a testimonial year, and I have no doubt he’ll be well supported throughout 2024 for the service he has given to the club.”

A proportion of the proceeds raised from a range of events planned throughout the course of 2024 will support his chosen charities, the Professional Cricketers' Trust (PCT) and Stand Against MND.
