Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club is supporting a recently formed LGBTQ+ and allies, and The Blaze Supporters’ Club which is inviting new members to join and expand their community.

The supporters group, which was founded in June, will offer comfort and support to all LGBTQ+ cricketers, coaches, fans, and those in other roles at all levels of the game.

"Trent Bridge already has a reputation for being one of the friendliest cricket grounds in England. We welcome the support that Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club are offering to provide even greater reassurance to the LGBTQ+ community that Trent Bridge is a safe space for everyone." said Shaun Reeder, committee member and one of the LGBTQ+ founders.

"The OUTlaws LGBTQ+ and allies Supporter’s Group is supported by NCCC, and will provide a forum for all supporters of Nottinghamshire CCC and The Blaze to come together to support each other and the game we all love."

"As a long standing Notts member of over 30 years, this seems like an important turning point for NCCC, and cricket in general, to demonstrate commitment to inclusivity and diversity. As a gay cricket fan and cricketer, I welcome the chance to reach out and provide a network of support for likeminded individuals in the community."

New members can join the OUTlaws Facebook page which will offer people another avenue to make more connections within the community and to provide a support network to enjoy the game of cricket.

Liam Smith, member of the OUTlaws LGBTQ+ Supporters Club said, "Having been involved in LGBTQ+ sport for over a decade as an ally, I believe that it is important to ensure that sport is accessible to everyone and that everyone feels welcome. As a supporter and member of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, I want to do the best I can so that my club is one where everybody feels comfortable."

The Club offered its support to the Rainbow Laces Camapign during the recent T20 game against Leicestershire, as cricket came together across the whole weekend between 1-6 July in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Players and staff of both Nottinghashire CCC and The Blaze were given rainbow laces, and the stumps were also dressed in the pride flag.

Nottinghamshire Pride will take place on Saturday 29 July in Nottingham City Centre with Nottinghamshires Cricket Development teams once again joining the Pride March along, with the other regional sports clubs.

The free event will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, showcase their wonderful talent and reflect the fabulous diversity across the city and county.
