Sam Seecharan struck an unbeaten 200 in a six-and-a-half hour vigil to rescue a draw on the third and final day against Derbyshire, with the fixture eventually meandering to an inevitable stalemate.
Seecharan was at the crease on the second day when the Green and Golds slumped to 89-6 responding to the hosts’ first innings 405 all out, but a partnership worth 197 with Drew Ottewell lifted Notts out of the mire.
54 of those came on the morning of day three, with the hosts resuming 214-6 and still in some danger of a tricky three sessions if dismissed cheaply.
After the dismissal of Ottewell, Seecharan shepherded the tail expertly to add 101 to the Nottinghamshire total, mitigating any immediate danger, whilst bringing up his own double century off 337 balls.
That meant a resumption of Derbyshire’s innings with a slender lead of 34, which, with the new ball safely negotiated, grew to 292 before the sides shook hands, the home side just two wickets down in the game’s third innings.
