With unforgiving weather forecast for day two of the LV= Insurance County Championship fixture against Worcestershire, updates will be posted here throughout the day.
8.24am
With a little over two and a half hours until the scheduled start of play, persistent rain is falling, the covers are on and a strong wind is blowing across the ground.
9.53am
As we prepare to throw the gates of Trent Bridge open for a second time at 10am, the scene sadly remains a little sorry.
Full covers are still in position as rain continues to fall with a prompt start at 11am feeling unlikely.
11.05am
Start delayed.
Under normal circumstances, play would now be underway. As it is, however, we continue to overlook a soggy scene.
11.20am
With the rain having relented, the task of mopping up has begun and the umpires will inspect at 12 noon.
12.05pm
Further rain has, sadly, prevented the planned noon inspection. The waiting game once again ensues.
12.20pm
Confirmation that an early lunch will be taken at 12.30pm, thus securing a 40-minute period during which no further overs will be lost from the day’s allocation.
The rain, meanwhile, continues to fall.
1.25pm
A further inspection to take place at 1.40pm with conditions currently dry, albeit with further threatening clouds in the vicinity.
1.50pm
The inspection is cut short by further rain. The waiting game recommences.
2.15pm
Encouraged by the sight of easing rain, a mopping up operation has begun.
2.40pm
False alarm. The ground staff have parked up the super sopper as the weather has worsened.
3.05pm
Tea will be taken at 3.30pm, with a further inspection after the interval if clearer skies prevail.
3:30pm
Just as the players begin to pack away their tea-time tupperware, the heavens open once again. No prospect of immediate play here.
