Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club is saddened to learn of the death of Ray Dawson, who passed away on Saturday aged 64.
Dawson, who was elected to the General Committee in 1999 served in finance and commercial roles and was the Club’s Treasurer for 10 years.
A former local cricketer in the Notts Alliance and Amateur Leagues, he ran his own business in financial consultancy and served as a Non-Executive Director of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Chief Executive Lisa Pursehouse said: “Notts cricket was a huge part of Ray’s life and he had been a member for over 50 years. He contributed a great deal to the success of the Club in his role as a Committee member for almost 20 years.
“He was ever present at Trent Bridge and was well known and liked on the County circuit where he made many friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone here at the Club.
“County Championship cricket was his great passion and many of our players and coaching staff knew Ray personally. It seems fitting that we have started the season with a win – he would have liked that.”
“Our deepest condolences go to Ray’s wife Romany and all his family and friends at this time.”
