Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club’s first team squad are benefitting from the extensive facilities at David Lloyd West Bridgford thanks to a new sponsorship deal.

With gym, health club, pool and a wide range of sporting activities on offer, the Rugby Road location has become an integral part of match-day preparations for Peter Moores’ side.

“We’ve been using the facilities down there as a squad for a while now and it’s really helped us actually,” said the Head Coach.

“A lot of our pre-season gym and fitness work took place there, which has certainly impacted on the cricket we’ve been playing at the start to the season.

“It’s a nice environment, somewhere we can bring the lads together for events like our triathlon challenge - and it’s also available for them to come and do their own thing as they get their minds and bodies right to play.”

The partnership also allows Nottinghamshire’s players to utilise David Lloyd facilities around the country during trips to away fixtures.

“Sometimes when you travel away from Notts for four days at a time, you can miss the facilities you get used to at home, so that’s been another real benefit,” added Moores.

“It’s certainly something our players value, and it’s helping them be fully prepared for their cricket.”

On a visit to David Lloyd West Bridgford, it’s a regular occurrence to see Notts players – including internationals such as Stuart Broad, Alex Hales and Jake Ball - using the facilities and engaging in the relaxed social environment of the club.

“First and foremost, the Nottinghamshire lads are a pleasure to have around,” said David Lloyd West Bridgford’s General Manager, Ray Burge.

“Our regulars like sharing the venue with them because having elite athletes adds to the sense of it being a premium facility – and they are a very friendly, approachable and relaxed group of guys.

“Alex Hales & Brendan Taylor are dab hands at tennis, Stuart Broad loves to spin & swim and it was Jake Libby that emerged triumphant from the competitive triathlon challenge during pre-season training.

“We’re delighted to see the great start Notts have made to the season and proud to have played our part.”
