A little one is never too young to be introduced to cricket; the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board is proving it by running sessions for boys and girls aged between two and four as the new cricket season gets underway next month.

The sessions are taking place on Monday 13, Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 April in Woodhead Hall at Trent Bridge, home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.

It is an opportunity for the yoingsters to enjoy learning about teamwork and sportsmanship, as well as developing basic movements and technical skills with the experienced coaches from the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board.

Children aged 2/3 will be welcomed from 9am to 10am with each session priced at £6, or £15 for the full three days. Youngsters aged 4/5 will be in action from 10.30am to 12noon priced at £8 per day or £20 for all three days.

By developing fundamental skills such as throwing, catching, running and balance within a cricketing context, young players will be exposed to the game in a fun and exciting environment.

Each session will start with fun warm up exercises prior to the introduction of cricket games and activities.  Participants will develop their physical capabilities, learning movement skills and the ABC’S of athleticism – Agility, Balance,  Coordination and Speed.

The aim is to introduce children to the core skills needed to participate and compete in sport later in their lives.

Coaches will encourage the kids to join in as independently as possible, however, the grown-ups can join in as much or as little as they feel is necessary.
