Nottinghamshire’s Academy take on bottom side Mansfield Hosiery Mills tomorrow looking to kick on from their last outing against Radcliffe-on-Trent.
With weather intervening last weekend against Welbeck, the Academy will be looking to continue their winning streak from the week previous.
Captain Paul Franks hopes his young players can carry the confidence from their first win of the season into this weekend’s fixture.
“Against Radcliffe it was a really encouraging performance in many ways,” Franks said.
“We had showed signs of playing quite well at times without putting a whole performance together.
“The youngsters of the squad will take a lot of confidence out of the game and I hope we can take that into this weekend.”
With Mansfield Hosiery Mills bottom of the league heading into the current round of fixtures the Academy could think they are in for an easy game.
However, Franks is keen for his side not to slip off the pace and deal with the challenge that is in front of them.
“It is hard to state where MHM would be in the table as they had a penalty hanging over their heads at the start of the season,” Franks said.
“The penalty was probably hard for the group of players to deal with but they have wiped that deficit off now so can start building.
“They will look at us as someone they can take points off and close the considerable gap that is opening up from them to the rest of the teams.
“However we will looking to force a result for ourself and climb up the table to be up amongst the top three or four teams.”
The weekend also brings with it a T20 match against Welbeck on Sunday, a game which Franks will be taking a back seat for.
“It will be an interesting concept come Sunday as we won’t have seen many of the team play T20 before,” Franks said.
“I will be taking a step back and watching from the outside which should give Brett some good experience at captaining the side.”
