Notts Academy prospect Sam Kelsall has been named in the England Under 15’s squad after winning the batsmen of the tournament award at the prestigious Bunbury Festival in Cumbria.
The squad will face an England under 16’s emerging players side and Kelsall will have the opportunity to train with the England senior team as part of his prize.
“He’ll spend a week with the seniors at some point in the winter and having time in that environment will be a massive benefit,” said Notts Academy Director Chris Tolley.
“We took him on as an 11 year old and this year we set him the target of putting in good performances at the festival to push for a place in the Notts Second XI.”
Kelsall plays for Moddershall CC in the Staffordshire Premier League and several of his Notts team mates have also earned representative honours.
Karanjit Bansal was named in a 12-man Lincolnshire squad and Taylor Williams made his Minor Counties debut for Cornwall.
Adam Dobb, Brett Hutton and Sam Wood joined Kelsall in the Midlands Regional Under 15’s squad at Bunbury and will compete in a play-off for third position this afternoon.
