Still awaiting Nottinghamshire First Class Debut
Former Durham all-rounder Paul Coughlin joins Nottinghamshire for the 2018 season after making 80 appearances for his native county across all three formats.
After graduating through the Durham academy system he made an appearance for Northumberland in the Minor Counties Championship before being handed a first team debut in a three-day friendly against Australia A in 2012, scoring an unbeaten 29 and snaring Michael Klinger as his maiden first class wicket.
Coughlin’s development through the Durham ranks reached fruition last season when he was appointed captain of the Jets’ T20 side, skippering his home side in both matches against Notts.
The 25 year old recruit will bolster Nottinghamshire’s bowling ranks with his brisk right-arm medium-pace and the quality of his batting should add useful runs to the lower middle order.
He joins Nottinghamshire with a career high first class score of 85 and has best bowling figures of 5-49. That was bettered in T20 cricket with an analysis of 5-42 against Northants at Wantage Road.
