An opening batsman who signed for Nottinghamshire from Leicestershire ahead of season 2015, the Outlaws were alerted to the talent of Greg Smith when he took their attack for a 54-ball 102 in a NatWest T20 Blast fixture during 2014; an innings that included 13 fours and four sixes but that couldn't save the Foxes from a 24-run defeat.
Smith scored 1,448 runs in all competitions for the county of his birth during that season, including 862 at 30.78 in the LV= County Championship.
Director of Cricket Mick Newell spoke of his significant potential after completing the signing in October 2014.
He has spent the last three winters playing first-class cricket in Sri Lanka.
