A late starter in county cricket, the 6ft 7in swing bowler has been making up for lost time ever since his debut for Notts at the end of the 2002 season.

Shreck got a trial at Trent Bridge that year after an old team-mate of Academy Director Chris Tolley saw Shreck's pace and swing in action first hand during a club game.

He took his chance in the one-day match against Worcestershire with 5-35, earning a short-term contract in 2003 that was quickly extended after more impressive performances.

Shreck had claimed 31 wickets from only eight first-class matches in 2004 when he suffered a stress fracture in his back which required an operation and ruled him out of the entire 2005 season.

He returned in style in 2006 with 61 wickets at 24.78, finishing ninth in the first-class averages and twice claimed 10 wickets in a match, as well as a hat-trick against Middlesex at Lord's.

His selection as the Notts Player of the Year in 2006 and 2008 underlines the regard in which he is held at Trent Bridge but injury led to a dip in form in 2009 as he returned 21 wickets at an average of 61.

Off-season back surgery to correct an injury which hampered him throughout the 2010 campaign was successful and Shreck made a bright start to the 2011 campaign.

He recorded victories in both divisions of the LV= County Championship in the opening weeks of the season, returning to help Nottinghamshire beat Hampshire at Trent Bridge after a brief loan spell with Kent.
