Zachary Bess is Nottinghamshire’s Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach, responsible for ensuring the squad are in peak physical condition.

Hailing from Sidmouth, in the South West of England, Bess’s career in S&C began with a role at Oakham School in Rutland, the alma mater of Stuart Broad and Lyndon James, among many other notable sporting personalities.

Ahead of the 2021 summer, Bess joined Nottinghamshire for the first time and remained at Trent Bridge for two and a half seasons, during which the side lifted the County Championship Division Two title.

Midway through the 2023 season, he moved to Worcestershire, before returning to Trent Bridge a little over 18 months later to lead the S&C department, with his second spell also coinciding with silverware as the Green and Golds were crowned County Champions.

Bess has spent time further developing his skills in other elite environments, working with Trent Rockets Men in The Hundred, and in February 2026, was part of Scotland’s backroom staff for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
