Simultaneously a belligerent striker and a classy operator, Joe Clarke has blossomed into a leader across formats for Nottinghamshire while remaining a batting force to be reckoned with.
As the Outlaws’ Vitality Blast captain, a role to which he was appointed ahead of the 2024 season, Clarke has led from the front ever since.
Having been the side’s top run-scorer in the shortest format in his first summer in charge, he followed that up finishing second on that particular list in 2025.
Clarke’s T20 exploits have elevated him to fourth on Notts’ overall run-scorers list with over 2,000, and he also has two centuries - one of which, a barbarous 136 against Northants Steelbacks in 2021, still stands as the top score ever made in an innings for the Outlaws.
He lifted the Vitality Blast trophy with the club in 2020, and away from the white-ball arena, has continued to be one of the most aesthetic shot-makers on the circuit in First-Class cricket.
As a key member of the side that won the 2025 County Championship, Clarke has registered over 4,500 red-ball runs in total for Nottinghamshire, scoring 12 centuries.
On occasion, he has also developed a reputation for his rearguard ability as much as his fluency, batting for 11 hours across game-saving innings against Somerset and Lancashire in 2024.
A former England Under-19 international, he also has extensive experience across global franchise competitions, appearing for various sides in Australia’s Big Bash League, Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, and three different teams in The Hundred.
