Trent Bridge Annual Report 2018

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 23 has returned a healthy profit. This is thanks, in no small part, to our innovative and committed team off the field who delivered each of our major matches – and seven home fixtures in the NatWestT20 Blast – to sizeable audiences without compromising the quality of the experience for our valued visitors. The recent development at the Radcliffe Road End demonstrates our ambition to remain one of the finest places to watch and play cricket in the world. We are rightly proud of it and will continue to develop the ground in line with that ambition and the availability of affordable finance. But cricket in Nottinghamshire stretches much further and wider thanTrent Bridge – and the ECB’s “Cricket Unleashed” strategy calls upon all counties to increase participation in our sport. Encouragement and support for the recreational game is, therefore, central as we seek to entice as many players as possible - regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, affluence or disability – into playing our sport. Our Community Report provides an update on how the professional Club is working ever more closely with Nottinghamshire Cricket Board to achieve those objectives. It also outlines information in relation to the work of our charity, the Trent Bridge CommunityTrust, in improving the lives of young people within our county - and how we have this year commemorated the six Nottinghamshire cricketers who lost their lives during the FirstWorldWar. The ECB are also, meanwhile, soon to reveal expectations with regards the structure of governance in place within cricket in each of the counties. Once that “County Partnership Agreement” is in place, we will cross-reference it with the governance review already undergone by ourselves and consult with our members accordingly. The committee took the view in November that it would not be wise to rush this through in advance of the forthcoming AGM. Finally, I would like to thank all my colleagues on the General Committee for their support and hard work over the year, with special thanks toVice- Chairman, Stuart Foster. Stuart has been on the Committee for many years and his experience and advice has always been invaluable. I’m also grateful to the players, coaching staff and the executive of the Club for their hard work during the year - and to our Members for their unwavering support. It is thanks to you all that we continue to be such a great Club. T20Vitality Blast atTrent Bridge
