In partnership with Basford United and Education FC, sessions over the Easter, May Half Term, Summer and Christmas Holidays were delivered across five venues in the city.These included Harvey Hadden (where 280 young people were supported), Melbourne Park (1996 young people), Southglade Park (1373 young people), Basford United (940 young people) and the Haydn Road Community Cricket Club (546 young people). Our Children in Need offer (funded by Children in Need) has provided vulnerable and disadvantaged young people from the city and the Aspley, LeenValley and Bilborough areas with the opportunity to improve physical fitness, build positive relationships and become more aspirational. During 2023, sessions have encouraged children to have healthier lifestyles via our Healthy Hearts programme, which covers heathy eating and nutrition and educates children about healthy activity levels. In total, 45 young people attended the holiday sessions with 129 attendances over the 11-week delivery period. October 2023 saw the start of a new programme named ‘INclude’ , funded by Nottingham City Council Mental HealthTeam.The project delivers after-school sessions targeting young people.These sessions have been delivered at theWells Academy and Emmanuel School. The after-school sessions are designed to support pupils to improve their wellbeing and attendance at school, while increasing their positive behaviours and providing an opportunity to engage in community activities.The intention is for this to help them to have an improved attitude to their education overall. Twelve sessions have been delivered to date, with 125 attendees over that time. AYear 7 participant said of the sessions; “I LOVE TO PLAY FOOTBALL BUT I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO GET INTO A TEAM. I LOVE THESE AFTER-SCHOOL SESSIONS AS I GET TO PLAY REGU- LARLY AND CHARLIE AND CALLUM HELP ME FEEL CONFIDENT. I WANT TO PLAY FOR THE SCHOOL TEAM WHEN I AM IN YEAR 8”.
